Ventilation cleaning for data centres and server rooms

In a data centre air handling is part of a tightly managed process. Access, temperature and business continuity decide when work can happen and how.

Why a clean air path matters

Why a clean air path matters

Server rooms and data centres often have redundant air handling and a protocol that differs per provider. A standard cleaning does not fit there.

Dust and fibres in ducts, air handling units and grilles restrict the airflow, can increase the load on filters and fans and make the discharge temperature harder to control. Clean maintenance of that air path therefore contributes to a more predictable climate in the room.

We clean the air path itself: duct and air handling unit components, grilles and outlets, and fans where they can be reached. The inside of servers, racks and cabling is left untouched.

Planning around availability, access and windows

Planning around availability, access and windows

We first assess the situation technically and agree scope, planning, access conditions and escorting with the manager. Only then do we execute, within the agreed conditions.

A data centre usually runs continuously. We therefore work in consultation, in windows released by the manager, and never during a business-critical moment.

  • Technical assessment up front: units, ducts and accessibility.
  • Work in agreed windows, outside business-critical periods.
  • Access only with the agreed escort and the manager's badge.
  • Zone-by-zone approach: only the rooms and components that are in scope.
  • Alignment with the site manager on noise, dust and temperature.

What we do within this work

What we do within this work

Technical assessment of units, ducts and access up front.

Cleaning of the reachable unit and duct components within the agreed scope.

Cleaning of grilles and outlets in the server room.

Photo proof and reporting according to the manager's agreements.

Installations this work applies to

Installations this work applies to

  • Redundant air handling units with fans.
  • Ductwork from the units to the server rooms.
  • Air supply to rack rooms, only on request and after an on-site assessment.
  • Technical rooms with their own temperature and access rules.

How an assignment runs

How an assignment runs

  1. Request

Request with the manager's protocols and the available windows.

  2. Assessment

Technical assessment and a plan with access and temperature requirements.

  3. Scope and price

Fixed scope and price, with a security and escort agreement.

  4. Execution

Execution in the agreed window, with reporting afterwards.

What we do not do

What we do not do

We work in a data centre only after a technical assessment and within the manager's agreements. We make no claim about accreditation or a result achieved.

  • We do not guarantee certification, permits or approval for data centres.
  • We never work during a business-critical moment or without the agreed escort.
  • Equipment, cabling and racks are not moved or modified.
  • We do not clean the inside of servers or electronics; that lies outside the air path.
  • Cleanroom or certified rooms only on request and after assessment, with no promise about the level achieved.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you work in an operational data centre?

Only in consultation and within a window released by the manager. We agree access, escorting and temperature conditions in advance.

Do you also clean the servers or racks?

No. We clean the air path: ducts, air handling units, grilles and fans. Servers, racks and cabling are not moved or opened.

Can you confirm that the air meets a standard after cleaning?

No. We clean the reachable components and report what was done. An air quality measurement or microbiological result is outside our scope.

Do you work in the evening or at the weekend?

In consultation, within the windows the manager makes available. That depends on the business continuity of the site.

Send photos of the installation and briefly describe what you would like cleaned. We assess the situation and come back with a concrete scope and a fixed price. In a data centre a technical assessment and planning with the manager always come first.
